Barichara and Guane: mountains, tradition and rural life
Discover the rural landscapes of Barichara on a mountain biking experience that combines adventure, crafts, and encounters with the local area. The route covers approximately 20 kilometers You will travel along the Lubigará and Guanentá trails until you reach Guane, with stops to learn about local knowledge and businesses.
The experience
The tour begins in Barichara and goes into rural roads where you can observe crops and enjoy views towards the Serranía de los Yariguíes, when visibility allows.
During the route you will visit the pottery workshop of Doña Bernardita , a space to get closer to local artisan work and discover how the earth is transformed into handmade pieces.
We will continue towards Guane In the village of Barichara, we'll pause to enjoy its tranquil atmosphere and admire its church and traditional architecture. There you'll find local drinks like guarapo, chicha de maíz (corn beer), and sabajón (a type of eggnog). Tastings are optional and not included in the services.
After the break we will begin a ascent of approximately 9 kilometers towards Barichara The most physically demanding section. Those who prefer not to complete it by bicycle can check beforehand the availability and conditions of the support vehicle for cyclists.
The experience is complemented by a light local snack and a visit to the Alejo's Farm where you will learn about their syntropic agriculture proposal —which combines different crops seeking supportive relationships between plants— and their venture with goats, sheep and rabbits.

Wear comfortable athletic clothing, closed-toe shoes with good traction, a water bottle, sunscreen, and insect repellent. You can wear a hat for breaks; during the ride, you must wear a properly fitted helmet.
